FS_handle for file: None Free

Post by DeEchteBen »

Hi Zombienation admins,

I'm Ben (De echte Ben) from The Netherlands and I'm a frequent ZN player.

I play CoD2 on my Macbook but i get kicked from the ZN server very often. The error dialog in the CoD2 main menu says: FS_handle for file: None Free

I get kicked mostly when the server is pretty crowded, and especially when the following events happen:
- Bubble is placed (then I can't reconnect for 15 seconds either, or I get kicked again immediately)
- Last hunter is killed (I reconnect and am second zombie, very annoying)
- A specific zombie dying sound is played (not sure about this one, because i get kicked BEFORE this event, but i see some sound error in the console log)
It seems like I get kicked when there is a big load on the graphics or data stream.

I thought it maybe was a corrupt file on my Mac so I reinstalled CoD2 a few times and even reinstalled my OS completely. But it did not help. I get the error on another Mac i have too, by the way.

Yesterday somebody (EliteSniper) on the ZN server asked about this problem in the chat. I asked him if he had a Mac too, and he had. So I think some mod on ZN does not work correctly for Macs.

I know this problem is hard to fix because you guys may not have a Mac to test this. And maybe you don't even want to, because you don't support or even hate Macs. But it would be great, because it's very annoying to be not be able to play when ZN is crowded, and I NEED Zombienation on my busy working day as a drug ;). And maybe you know directly how to fix this. Anyway, it would be great.

Thanks in advance and have a great day,
Ben

Next time when this happens send me your console log with /condump dump.txt. (maybe with /developer 1 you will get more information)
The sound error should be fixable.

There might be some differences between the Windows and Mac version CoD2. Since when are you getting kicked for these things?

This is what i could find so far:

Mitch, sorry about my late reply.

This is a screenshot of the error log in Console when I got kicked again 5 minutes ago.

I'm very curious if and how I can fix this.

Can you do /condump log.txt? (Then i can see your entire console log. Now I only see one part)

It looks like Mac can't handle too many sounds played at the same time. (probably mostly occurs when the server has more players)

You can find the log.txt here: http://pastebin.com/S8fxgdYb

Strange thing is, i play on ZN for a few years. And I only have this problem since a few months?

Thanks for your help so far.

Code: Select all

Couldn't play stream 'sound/infected/rawr.wav' from alias 'rawr' - Audio Error 1
This is the problem. Can you try if you get the same error for noobs and benny hill sound (v7)?

Try if you can play the file manual. It is located in ZN/znation3.iwd/sound/infected/rawr.wav. (open the iwd with winrar)

I played the wav sound manually with Quicktime, iTunes and VLC and all worked.

I also tried to play all of the sounds from the v7 menu: Benny Hill, Noobs, Lolwut and Bad Boys didn't work. It just said -100 and no sound at all. But I didn't get kicked for it. And playing those wav files manually from znation3.iwd did work.

This was the log after playing some v7 menu sounds:

Great you're helping an individual ZN player solving his problems!

Ok, now I need to find out why these sounds don't play. What sounds do work? Bubble rotate? Plant mine? Use medpack? Explode? NVG on? Medic shout? Brains shout?

Try this:
/snd_list
/fs_openedList
/path
now /comdump log.txt again.
